Best Costume!

I know these are a little late, but better late than never!  On Oct. 31 my work had a party called Schnaktoberfest... I work for Schnake Turnbo Frank | PR so the name works :)  We were asked to dress up and bring a decorated pumpkin, both for a contest!  I am pleased to annouce... I WON!!! I used my pumpkin as a bowl to hold a dip then decored the outside of it with felt to make a spiders web and owl.  And for my costume, I dressed up as my boss, Steve Turnbo!  It was hit!

That evening, Steve and I went out with our friends to the Melting Pot for appetizers and dessert.  We all kind of dressed up, but nothing too special!

Soon, I'll be posting a few pictures from a hike Steve and I took yesterday!

Expanding our horizons... testing the OKC waters!

Steve and I finally made a trip out to Oklahoma City!  I wish I had more pictures than I do, but of course I forgot my camera and Steve's phone was slowly loosing it's batter power, so I guess my oh so descriptive words will have to do....

We wanted to do something different so we decided to check on the OKC Science Museum.  It was a lot of fun.  We spent three hours going down two-story slides, learning how to drive a segway, playing with legos and trying all kinds of experiments.

After the Science Museum we headed down to Bricktown and ate some delicious bar-b-que.  Steve had fried okra for the first time!! YUM!  The next day Steve had to take wake up waaaay to early to get take his military physical exam which took over 5 hours, crazy! Then, he went on to take his Assembly of God credentialing test which he passed! YES! If you didn't know, Steve is trying to get into the Air Force Chaplaincy Candidate program.  He has finished all of the tests and paperwork so now we just wait.  We are supposed to hear back around the beginning of December. Keep us in your prayers!

Last, this week is Turn Tulsa Pink week.  AKA, breast cancer awareness.  We had read in the paper about some of the downtown Tulsa building being lit up pink so last night we went to check it out...

Well, that's all for now, it's getting late...ok not really, but I'm tired :)

Living life in Tulsa, OK

The past few weeks Steve and I have had the opportunity to experience some real Tulsa culture!  First, we were blessed with 2 tickets to a Tulsa Shock (Tulsa's professional women's basketball team) game.  We have both never been to a professional basketball game, so we really enjoyed it.  I think one of the things we enjoyed the most was being able to go in the BOK Center.  I state of the art facility built in 2003 for $194 million!!! Crazy!

Then, this week, we went to the Tulsa State Fair.  Steve and I kept hearing all about the fair and it seemed like a really big deal so we decided to go check it out.  Of course, we went on the 2 for the price of 1 night since we are frugal and it's kind of expensive (at least to us non-Tulsans.)  It was pretty fun, we saw some crazy fried foods, lots of people and some fun animals!  Enjoy the pictures!

Last, a few weeks ago, Steve and I went out to a restaurant called McNellies in downtown Tulsa.  Every Wednesday they have $3 burger night, so of course we had to check it out! The burgers were great!  But what was very interesting was this dumpster we saw right outside the restaurant....

I hope you adore our fall decor

Last weekend Steve and I drove up to St. Joseph to visit his Mom and Dad.  While there Steve's mom, Linda, and I did a little bit of fall decorating!  Needless to say, she inspired  me!!  Yesterday, I took a trip out to Michaels and bought a few things to make our apartment look a little "fallish!"

The bouquet is just four fall floral stems bunched together and put in the cute antique pitcher I picked up!
This glass jar was used at our wedding and I had full of potpourri for at first, which looked great!  However, I thought it would look nice if I changed out the contents during each season.  So during fall it will have the pumpkins and things, and in the winter I'll add something new!

This wreath was so much fun to make and really easy! I bought a "grapevine wreath" for $2.50 then added the same leaves that I used in the pitcher pictured above.  Except, this time, I cut the leaves off the stems and just weaved them through the original wreath. No glue needed and it took me less than 30 minutes!   Here is a picture of how it started.

I hope you like our fall decorations, and maybe it will inspire you to spruce up your house like my mother-in-law inspired me!!!
